Obituary

Paul N. Rousseau, 90, of New Bedford passed away Friday April 12, 2024 at home after a brief illness.  He was the husband of Dorothy B. (Kennedy) Rousseau.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Arsene "Mike" and Gertrude (Daley) Rousseau, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.  He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School.

He was a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish.

Paul was formerly employed as a machinist at the Acushnet Company for 46 years until his retirement.

During the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Army.  He was a former member of the St. Hedwig's Senior Citizens Club, the St. Mary's Couples Club, and the Knights of Columbus.  Many years ago, he served as a scout leader for the Boy Scouts.

He is survived by his wife Dorothy; three children, Brenda Rousseau, Glenn Rousseau and his wife Jane, and Gail Araujo and her husband John; six grandchildren, Erin Hukka, Joshua Rousseau, Morgan Rousseau, Collin Rousseau, Quentin Araujo, and Reina Araujo; three great-grandchildren; several sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his son, Evan Rousseau, and his brothers, Donald Rousseau, Leo Rousseau, and Edward Rousseau.

His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday April 19th at 10 AM at St. Gabriel the Archangel Parish, 343 Tarkiln Hill Rd., New Bedford.  Visiting hours will be on Thursday April 18th from 4-7 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.  For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
