Phyllis M. (Fernandes) Rogers, 46, of Marion died December 21, 2003 unexpectedly at Tobey Hospital.

She was the wife of John C. Rogers, Jr., daughter of Maria C. (Cordeiro) Amaral and Humberto Fernandes, and stepdaughter of Serafim Amaral, all of New Bedford

Phyllis was born in St. Michael, Azores, Portugal, and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life before moving to Marion 20 years ago.

She enjoyed trips to Foxwoods and Newport Jai-Alai.

Phyllis was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and an outgoing person who was loved by many and friend to all.

Survivors include her husband; her mother, father and stepfather; 3 sons, Michael J. Rogers of Fall River, John C. Rogers, III, of Charlotte, NC, and David M. Rogers of Marion; a daughter, Sally O. Rogers of New Bedford; 5 brothers, Victor Fernandes, Rodney Fernandes, Robert Amaral, Joshua Fernandes and Brian Amaral, all of New Bedford; 5 sisters, Suzanna Smith of New Jersey, Elizabeth Fernandes, Josette Fernandes and Jessica Fernandes, all of New Bedford, Linda Fernandes of Wareham; a granddaughter, Tabitha Rogers; a grandmother, Natalie (Ferreira) Cordeiro of New Bedford; numerous nieces and nephews; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
