Phyllis (Lopes) Trigueiro, 75, of New Bedford passed away peacefully after a brief illness on Monday, April 21, 2025. She was the wife of Brian P. Trigueiro for 30 years.
Born in New Bedford, daughter of Arcangela "Arkie" Monteiro and the late Joseph Monteiro, she lived in New Bedford all her life.
Phyllis enjoyed walking around Buttonwood Park and spending time with her family. She was always there for her children and grandchildren whenever they needed her. Phyllis was the flagbearer for the Cape Verdean Vets Drum and Bugle Corps.
Survivors include her husband, Brian; her children, Anthony Benson and his wife Rachel of East Bridgewater, Lisa Benson of New Bedford, Jo-Ann Amaral and her husband Kyle of New Bedford, and Jason Benson and his wife Christiana of Cranston, RI; her sister, Paula Lopes; her grandchildren, Joseph Borges, Jr., Brandon Borges, Matthew Benson, Brennan Benson, Christopher Berner, Amaree Amaral, Owen Benson, Elizabeth Benson, Benjamin Benson, Erika Benson, and Juliana Benson; her great-grandchildren, Aiden, Damon, and Aubree Borges; her niece Danielle Lopes; and several cousins.
She is predeceased by her siblings John and Jo-Ann Monteiro.
Her memorial visitation will be held Thursday, May 1, 2025 from 5-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Family and friends are invited to her graveside service at Rural Cemetery on Friday May 2nd at 1 PM. Please meet directly at the cemetery.
