Pierce J. Penton, 79 of New Bedford, Massachusetts died October 16, 2003 at Sacred Heart Home after a long illness.

He was the husband of Katherine (Hassan) Penton and son of the late Aeneas and Catherine (Greene) Penton.

Mr. Penton was born in Joe Batts Arm, Fogo, Newfoundland before moving to New Bedford in 1948. He enjoyed wintering in Pompano Beach, FL.

He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in New Bedford.

Mr. Penton was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman for many years and later owned the F/V Rainbow. He owned many rental properties in New Bedford which he took great pride in their upkeep.

Survivors include his wife; 2 daughters, Paula Sullivan, and her husband John, and Pauline Penton, all of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Mabel Parsons of St. John's Newfoundland, Bernadette Walsh of Toronto, Ontario and Josephine Maher of Quincy; 6 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.

He was the father of the late Wayne Penton and brother of the late Grace Mahoney and Mary Penton.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordMonday, October 20th at 8 AM.Funeral Mass at St. Mary's Church, New Bedford at 9 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Sunday, October 19th from 3-7 PM.

Interment Pine Grove Cemetery, New Bedford.
