Ramona Marino Bretal, 97, of New Bedford died Monday April 10, 2006 at Hallmark Nursing Home. She was the wife of the late Gerardo Bretal.

Born in Corrubedo, Spain, she lived in Erandio, Spain for most of her life and in New Bedford for 19 years.

She was a communicant of Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish at St. James Church.

Survivors include two sons, Gerardo Bretal and Juan M. Bretal, both of New Bedford; two daughters, Teresa Bretal Martinez of Spain and Ramona Contreras of New Bedford; six grandchildren, Mildred Bretal-Paiva, Maria Martinez, Ana C. Contreras, Gerardo, Yancy, and Elena Bretal; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was the mother of the late Jose Bretal and grandmother of the late Angel Contreras.

Visiting hours will be on Friday April 14, 2006 from 5-7 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Erandio, Spain.
