Born in New York, NY, daughter of the late Daniel and Thurban (Pena) Amado, she lived in New Bedford most of her life. She was educated in New Bedford Public Schools and at Fisher Junior College with a concentration in business. She worked St Luke's Hospital and Acushnet Process. Her faith was a major part of her life. She joined Bethel A.M.E. Church in 1976 and was the 4th generation of her family to become a member of the historic congregation. She served in a number of roles in the church. During a period of time when she left Bethel, she was ordained in another denomination. Upon her return, she served as an Associate Minister to four successive Senior Pastors of the congregation. Her joy came from her work and ministry for the Lord Jesus and her travels with the Boston-Hartford District of the 1st Episcopal District of the A.M.E. Church.

Survivors include her son, Kenneth Harrison; grandchildren Michael Andrews, Letio Harrison of New Bedford, Jordan Pacheco of Dartmouth; and a great-granddaughter, Videl Pacheco of Dartmouth; 2 brothers, Daniel Amado, Jr. and Ceasar Amado, both of New Bedford; her aunt Caroline Ferreira of Houston, Texas; nieces and several cousins on the SouthCoast. She was predeceased by her son, Trey Harrison, her sister Thurban Amado, and Goddaughter Alisha Genevices.
