Richard Lamoine Bachstein, 85, passed away on Wednesday September 17, 2025 after a brief illness at St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, MA. He was a long-time resident of Dartmouth, MA with his wife and high school sweetheart, the late Tamara (Dahlheimer) Bachstein. They were married for nearly 50 years and loved antiquing and each other's loving company.

Richard was born in St. Louis, MO to Lamoine and Olive (Cranford) Bachstein. Richard leaves behind his beloved son Michael Bachstein, daughter-in-law Robin Vigeant Bachstein and grandchildren Noah Bachstein and his wife Lauren Bachstein, Chloe Bachstein and her boyfriend Christian Costa, and Mitchell Vigeant and his fiancée Julia Samuels.

Richard loved his family with all his heart and never missed a family event. He kept in touch with all his nieces and nephews in Missouri and was always on the phone keeping up with all the family milestones. His love of all things in life was felt by all whom he touched. He especially loved fishing with his son Michael, the St. Louis Cardinals, the Mizzou Tigers, and the Boston Red Sox. Richard was very handy, always pitching in on special projects or having the right tool for the job.

Richard will be dearly missed.

His funeral service will be held on Monday September 22nd at 11 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd., Route 6, Mattapoisett.  Visitation will be on Monday from 10-11 AM prior to the service.  Burial will be in South Dartmouth Cemetery.  For online condolence book, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
