Richard "Butchie" Silva, 59, of New Bedford died April 21, 2012 unexpectedly at home.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Nathaniel and Irene G. (Cabral) Bookman, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Survivors include his girlfriend, Barbara Lopes of New Bedford; 2 brothers, Robert Silva of Brockton and James Bookman of New Bedford; 4 sisters, Muriel Brooks of Providence, RI, Susan Brown of Georgia, Natalie Bookman and Jo-Ann Bookman, both of New Bedford; several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was the brother of the late Bruce Bookman and Sandra Silva and the grandson of the late Muriel Roberts and Antone Cabral.
Private arrangements are with the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
