Richard G. Velte of Mattapoisett passed away peacefully at age 90 on September 23, 2010 at Alden Court Nursing Home in Fairhaven. Dick was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1920 and, following graduation from Tufts University, spent his mechanical engineering career in the Boston area before moving to the Hollywoods section of Mattapoisett in 1978. Predeceased in 1988 by his wife Juliet, he is survived by their two sons, Lawrence, of Fairfax, VA, and Richard, Jr., of Newport, NH, and their wives Joan and Brenda. Dick's legacy also includes five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Private family burial will be at Cushing Cemetery in Mattapoisett.
