Rita (Brousseau) Grenon Archer, 99, of Marion passed away peacefully on Sunday September 8, 2024. Affectionately known as "MIMI," she was the wife of the late F. Omer Grenon and James Archer.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Donat E. and Aurore (Boudria) Brousseau, she lived in New Bedford for many years before moving to Marion.
Rita owned and operated A Touch of the Past Miniature and Doll Shop in New Bedford. She had also been the former Senior Program Director of the YWCA in New Bedford and had worked for Coastline Elderly Services providing senior appointment transportation and Meals on Wheels.
Her family was very blessed and grateful to have been able to celebrate her 99th birthday on June 29th in true "MIMI style"! The family would also like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of CareOne at New Bedford for the care, love, and compassion that was given to Rita.
She is survived by her children, Donna Burk Grenon and her spouse Claire Costa of Dartmouth, Diane Grenon Roy and her husband Dr. Louis A. Roy, Jr. of Fairhaven, Francis O. Grenon, Jr. and his wife Deborah of New Bedford, Robert J. Grenon of New Bedford, and Marc A. Grenon of Marion; her grandchildren, Michelle Lee Burk of Colorado, Christopher G. Roy and his wife Erin of Dartmouth, Sarah Roy Longo and her husband Gregory of Dartmouth, Kasey Grenon Potts and her husband James of California, Robert Grenon Boynton and his spouse Patrick Boynton of Attleboro, and Russell Grenon of Maine; her great-grandchildren, Logan and Jacoby Roy, Zoe and Maggie Longo, and Kennedy Potts; her sister, Fleurette Grenon of Mashpee; three nieces and a nephew.
She was predeceased by her great-grandson, Dominic Michael Longo, her brother, Donald Brousseau, and her brother-in-law, Dr. Jean Paul Grenon.
Her funeral will be held on Friday September 13th at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Julie Billiart Church, 494 Slocum Rd., Dartmouth at 11 AM. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday September 12th from 4-7 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hasbro Children's Hospital, 593 Eddy St., Providence, RI 02903, in memory of Dominic Michael Longo.
