Rita B. Greene
May 5, 1924 - June 13, 2025

Rita B. Greene, a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025, at the age of 101 at CareOne at New Bedford.

Born on May 5, 1924, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, she was the daughter of the late Russell Berry and Rebecca White Berry.

Rita was educated in the Cambridge Public School System and dedicated many years of service to Harvard University, where she was a valued and beloved member of the service staff. Her hard work, warmth, and dedication left a lasting impression on those she worked with and served.
Rita spent much of her life in Cambridge before retiring to Marion, Massachusetts, where she enjoyed her later years surrounded by the beauty of the South Coast and the love of her family.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfred Greene; her sons, Raymond E. Roberts Jr. and Courtland Roberts; and her parents.
She is survived by her devoted daughter, Judith Roberts Cruz and her husband Antone B. Cruz, Jr.; her daughter-in-law Doris Roberts; her loving grandchildren, Michelle Cruz-Watson, Michael J. Cruz and his wife Denise, Antone B. Cruz III and his wife Luz, Raymond E.Roberts III and his wife Wilma, Kim Roberts, Meka Roberts-Lightning, and Jarmal Sistrunk; and 21 great-grandchildren. Her legacy lives on in their hearts and in the many lives she touched over the course of her long and meaningful life. Rita will be remembered for her quiet strength, her unwavering love for her family, and her enduring spirit.

Her visiting hours will be held on Saturday, August 2nd from 1 PM-3PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
