On November 28, 2009 Robert J. Baccelli died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Robert, 60, the son of Madeline (Camandona) Baccelli and the late John D. Baccelli, was born in New Bedford, MA and lived most of his life in Fairhaven. A graduate of New Bedford Vocational High School and a U.S. Navy veteran, Robert's career included many years as an equipment installer at the New England Telephone Co. and a decade as a deckhand, engineer and cook aboard Fairhaven based scallopers. He later worked as a painting contractor in the Mattapoisett/Marion area. For the past several years he was the groundskeeper and maintenance coordinator at the Sacred Hearts Retreat Center in Wareham. Robert was an avid golfer and sport fisherman, and especially loved riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He will be missed by his many friends. and especially by his family: his mother Madeline of New Bedford, his sons Robert and Christopher of New Bedford, his brother Steven of Martha's Vineyard, his niece Lindsey of Providence RI, and Beverly Baccelli and Liz DiCarlo of Mattapoisett.
