Robert S. Leonard, 52, of New Bedford died Wednesday, February 15, 2017, unexpectedly at home.

Born in New Bedford, the son of Marie (Zager) Hetu and her husband Alfred and the late Donald Leonard, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

Robert served in the U.S. Army, spending most of his time overseas in Germany.

He was a graduate of the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree.

Robert loved spending time with his family, watching local sports teams, music and collecting records.

Survivors include his mother and step-father; two daughters, Alisa and Alexandria Leonard; three brothers, Ronald Leonard, Michael Leonard and his wife Vivian, and Dennis Leonard and his wife Jeana; his former wives, Elke Flores and Bernadette Leonard; two grandchildren, Gabriel and Kamden; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his sister, Dona Leonard.

His Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, February 25, 2017 at 9 AM in Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, 121 Mt. Pleasant St., New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted. For online guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
