Robert L. Lewis, 82 of New Bedford died August 10, 2009 at Sippican Healthcare Center after a long illness.
He was the husband of Sylvia H. (Katsules) Lewis.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Anthony and Mae (Simmons) Lewis, he lived in Arizona before returning to New Bedford.
Mr. Lewis was formerly employed by Mass Gas for many years until retirement.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing and bowling.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Robert L. Lewis, Jr. of California; 2 daughters, Debbie Kleepsh of Aurora, CO and Laura Lee Redman; a stepson, Charles G. Ammon, Sr. of New Bedford; a sister, Claudia Martin of Fall River; 2 step-grandchildren, Charles G. Ammon, Jr. and Joshua C. Ammon; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Frederick Lewis, John Lewis and Shirley Brindle.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, August 14th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Visiting hours Thursday, August 13th from 4-8 PM.
