Robert A. Morel, 80, of Fairhaven died March 1, 2015 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
He was the husband of Sandra E. (Benoit) Morel with whom he shared 46 years of marriage.
Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of the late Alfred and Glenna L. (Metcalf) Morel, he lived in Fairhaven since 1969.
Mr. Morel was formerly employed by Revere Copper and Brass for 30 years until his retirement.
He was a member and past president of the Senior's Club at Fairhaven Village and a member of the 4th Old Dartmouth Militia.
Mr. Morel served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Dianna Morel Dietrich of East Sandwich; 3 step-sons, William J. Kligel of Acushnet, Michael R. Kligel of Hollywood, CA and Joseph C. Kligel of Memphis, TN; 2 step-daughters, Donna J. Cunningham of Titusville, FL and Deborah A. Carter of Dexter, GA; a brother, William A. Morel of Fairhaven; a sister, Doris E. Hess of Santa Rosa, CA; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was the grandfather of the late Robert Baxter and Mary Ann Baxter and the brother of the late George S. Morel.
