Robert W. Pierce, 69, of Mattapoisett died Tuesday October 1, 2002 unexpectedly at Tobey Hospital in Wareham. He was the son of the late Edwin E. Pierce and Lilian M. (Wood) Pierce Wood.
Mr. Pierce was born in Taunton and had lived in Mattapoisett for many years. He was a graduate of Taunton High School and Northeastern University.
He was the proprietor of R.W. Pierce Company, a supplier of computer business forms.
Mr. Pierce was a local musician who often played at the Cathay Temple and with the Tri-County Symphonic Band, the Mattapoisett Town Band and the Sippican Six.
Survivors include a son, Robert W. Pierce, II, of Wrentham; 3 daughters, Amy Otey of Williamsburg, VA, Jill Pierce of Los Angeles, CA, and Joy Pierce of Santa Rosa, CA; a brother, Stanley Pierce of West Hurley, NY; 5 grandchildren; a niece and 2 nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visiting hours at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 50 County Rd. (Rt. 6), Mattapoisett, Saturday October 5, 2002 from 12-2PM and 4-6 PM. Burial in Dighton Unitarian Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Tri-County Music Association Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 201, Marion, MA 02738.
