Robert L. Violette, 93, of New Bedford died September 17, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of the late Lucille A. (Fortin) Violette.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Leon E. and Mary Rose (Angers) Violette, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Violette served proudly in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his service, he was employed for a long and successful career with The Otis Elevator Company.
Robert possessed a lifelong passion for aviation, loving everything about flying-from piloting aircraft to building and flying remote-controlled planes. He found immense joy in the absolute freedom it brought him. He was also a true jack of all trades with a natural talent for working with his hands. Whether handling intricate carpentry, plumbing, or electrical work, he took great pride in home improvement projects and loved creating things to improve the lives of his family.
Survivors include his 3 sons, Robert E. Violette and his wife Katherine of Taunton, Steven G. Violette and Eric J. Violette, both of New Bedford; a brother, Maurice Violette and his wife Barbara of New Bedford; and several nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Wednesday, September 23rd at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, September 22nd from 4-7 PM.
