Ronald P. Barrows, 73, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, passed away peacefully on Saturday May 17, 2025.
Born on January 17, 1952, Ronald lived a life marked by service, strength, and deep love for his family and community. He proudly served in the United States Air Force as a Sergeant in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), earning the respect of his fellow servicemen and carrying those values of discipline and honor throughout his life.
He was the beloved son of the late Florence Royal (Perry) Barrows and William J. Barrows. Ronald was a devoted father to Ronnitta Watson-Harris and Ronald P. Barrows, and a proud grandfather to Jayden Barrows. He is also survived by his identical twin brother, Donald Barrows, and Donald's wife, Beverly Barrows; his brother Stephen Perry and the late Drusilla Perry; and his brother Jackie Barrows and the late Rise Barrows. He was a cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
A lifelong resident of New Bedford, Ronald was a proud member and Vice President of the Past Time 35 Club, where he found joy in fellowship, conversation, and community traditions. He was known for his love of music, his passion for spending time with family and friends, and his generous spirit-always ready to help others without hesitation.
Ronald's presence lit up every room. His humor, compassion, and authenticity left a lasting impression on everyone he met. He lived with purpose and heart, and leaves behind a legacy of love, service, and unity.
His visitation will be held on Saturday May 24th from 12 - 1 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by a service of remembrance to honor his life and legacy at 1 PM. A private family burial with military honors will take place at the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne.
