Ronald F. Pinto, 61, of New Bedford died Friday February 25, 2005 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Normenia M. (Correia) Pinto.
Born in New Bedford, the son of Eunice (Viera) Pinto of Dartmouth and the late Antone C. Pinto, Jr., he was raised in Dartmouth and lived in Freetown and New Bedford for most of his life. He was a graduate of Dartmouth High School.
He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.
Mr. Pinto was employed by Garvey Trucking Company in Holbrook.
Mr. Pinto served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and was a recipient of the National Defense Service medal, the Vietnam Service medal, the Vietnam Campaign medal, the Army Commendation medal, the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry and the Good Conduct medal.
He loved his family and friends and enjoyed helping others with construction projects. He also enjoyed sports, music, bowling, and golf.
Survivors include his wife; his mother; three daughters, Stacey A. Bock, and her husband James, of Wareham, Tenley J. Newman, and her husband Michael, of Michigan, and Jane E. Charron, and her husband Jamie, of Falmouth, Maine; a son Jason F. Gallagher of New Bedford; five brothers, Richard A. Pinto, and his wife Susan, of Virginia, Russell C. Pinto, and his wife Elizabeth, and Robert A. Pinto, all of Dartmouth, Ralph E. Pinto, and his wife Cynthia, of New Bedford, and Randolph D. Pinto, and his wife Bernadette, of Georgia; a granddaughter, Emily Kathryn Bock; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford Tuesday March 1, 2005 at 8 AM. Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 9 AM. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial with Military Honors will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne. Visiting hours will be on Monday February 28, 2005 from 4-8 PM.
