Ronald C. Smith, a proud veteran, devoted husband, and dedicated member of his community, passed away on February 25, 2026. He is now reunited with his beloved wife, Glenna, who preceded him in death. Ron was the son of the late Charles Smith and Genevieve Zuber Smith.
Born and raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, Ron's journey led him to attend Georgia Tech.where he received a degree in Systems Engineering. Immediately upon graduation, he demonstrated his dedication to his country by honorably serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. In four years of service, he attained the rank of Captain before returning to work at the Foxboro Company where he met his wife Glenna.
Ron's life with Glenna was a testament to enduring love. They were truly soul mates for over forty years., They enjoyed traveling worldwide and especially exploring the natural beauty of New England including Nantucket, the White Mountains of New Hampshire and Cape Cod. Ron cherished Glenna deeply, valuing their love story above all else. He was also a passionate and dedicated historian, devoting many hours to researching his hometown of Dighton, the life of his late Uncle Joe Zuber, and anything that sparked his curiosity.
In accordance with Ron's wishes, a private burial and services for the immediate family will be held. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his name to the Boston Children’s Hospital or the Tunnels to Towers Foundation, two causes close to his heart.
