Rose "Rosie DeBecky" (Mendes) Duarte, 93, of New Bedford died November 20, 2014 at St. Luke's Hospital.
She was the wife of the late Louis Duarte.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Antonio and Rebecca (Lipschutz) Mendes, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She was the longest serving Foster Grandparent in New Bedford and was formerly employed as a cafeteria worker at the DeValles School.

Mrs. Duarte enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Survivors include a son, Jeffrey Duarte of New Bedford; 2 daughters, Bernice Duarte and Brenda Duarte, both of New Bedford; 4 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Shirley Monteiro.
Her Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday from 4-8 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
