Ruth A. "Bunny" (Pope) Conceicao, 78, of Acushnet passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 13, 2025. She was the wife of the late Daniel J. Conceicao.
Born in Wareham, daughter of Dorothy R. (Rose) Pope and the late John E. Pope, she lived in New Bedford most of her life.
Ruth was deeply engrained in our local community. She and her husband were proud foster parents to over 150 children throughout the years. Ruth was a co-founder and president of the New Bedford Bears Pop Warner Football. She received many awards from the City of New Bedford and Pop Warner. Ruth was a dedicated mother and grandmother who loved her family and opened her doors to those in need.
Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Pope; her children, Daniel Conceicao, Jr., Leisha Conceicao, David Conceicao and his wife Nancy Reverdes, Tracy Cabral and her husband Robert, Derek Conceicao and his wife Jocelyn, Jazmyne Conceicao and her husband James Ewell, Janessa Conceicao and her fiancé Tyler Ribeiro, Jarid Conceicao, and Jordan Conceicao; her siblings, John "Tiny" Pope and his wife Heather, Robert Pope, Gary Pope and his wife Desiree, and Lisa Garrison and her husband Bob; her best friend Carol Conceicao; her grandchildren, Tiare, Davon, Diandra and her husband Johnnie, Caroline, Derell, Dana, Deshawn, Brett, Jaeliana, Alijah, Daviana, Jaelani, Jazarie, Daiden, Julius, Aysin, Dejalyn, Jadani, and Kayven; her great-grandchildren, Daejon and Jaevon; and her extended family members Corvens and Andrew.
Her Funeral will be held on Friday July 18, 2025 at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church at 10 AM. Burial will be in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday July 17, 2025 from 4-8 PM. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New Bedford Bears Football and Spirit, 33 Randall St.. Acushnet, MA 02743.
