Scott M. Sylvia, 57, of New Bedford died Thursday, March 23, 2023 unexpectedly at home.

Born in New Bedford, son of the late Richard and Barbara (McAskill) Sylvia, he was raised in Acushnet before later moving to New Bedford.

He was a graduate of Fairhaven High School.

Scott was formerly employed as a commercial fisherman for many years.

He is survived by two brothers, Richard Sylvia and his wife Lidia, and David Sylvia and his wife Brenda; two sisters, Donna Sylvia, and Sherry Sylvia-Petain and her husband John Petain; and many nieces and nephews.
