Shawn L. Poirier, 40, of Salem died Sunday March 18, 2007 at home.

Born and raised in New Bedford, the son of Louis H. Poirier and Joann (Frates) Poirier of New Bedford, he had lived in Salem for the past 20 years.

Shawn was an entertainer and world traveller. He had appeared on many television programs and served as a consultant for several motion pictures.

Survivors include his parents; a brother, Lance L. Poirier of New Bedford; his stepmother, Faith Poirier; his close companions, Leanne Marrama and Teisan Russell; his uncles, Henry Poirier and Thomas Frates, his aunt, Irene Avila; several cousins; and his cats, Kaa and Stophie.

Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 2-6 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. A Funeral Ritual will follow from 6-8 PM. His Funeral Procession will form on Thursday at 10 AM at the Funeral Home and will proceed to St. Mary's Cemetery for the burial service.
