Obituary

Shirley M. (LaFrance) Pieraccini, 86, of Dartmouth died August 9, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital peacefully.
She was the wife of John Pieraccini, Jr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Phillip and Annie (Hassett) LaFrance, she lived most of her life in New Bedford and Dartmouth.
Mrs. Pieraccini was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
She was a graduate of New Bedford High School and Lakeville School of Nursing.
Mrs. Pieraccini was formerly employed by Lakeville Hospital as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Dialysis Department. She also worked private duty nursing and was the charge nurse at the Sacred Heart Nursing Home.
Mrs. Pieraccini was an avid bridge player and member of the Mattapoisett Bridge Club. She also enjoyed gardening, chess, braiding rugs, knitting sweaters, rescuing animals from the rescue league and the company of her dogs and cats.
Her family thanks all her neighbors who helped her in every way. They are all like extended family.
Survivors include her husband; 2 sons, John F. Pieraccini, III and his wife Nancy Pieraccini of Pittsfield, MA and Mark A. Pieraccini and his wife Jane Moss of Greenfield, MA; 2 grandsons, Scott Pieraccini of West Springfield, MA and Josh Cormier of Pittsfield, 2 sisters-in-law, Vivian Whalen of Tempe, AZ and Jacqueline Schreider of Scottsdale, AZ; several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Oliver LaFrance, Russell LaFrance and Gilbert LaFrance.
Her family will receive guests on Tuesday morning, August 12th from 9-9:30 AM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford followed by her Funeral Mass in St. Mary's Church, Dartmouth at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Animal Rescue League of New Bedford, 31 Ventura Dr., Dartmouth, MA 02747 or to the Dartmouth Natural Resources Trust, PO Box P17, 404 Elm St. Dartmouth, MA 02748.
