Sophie K. (Krones) Lemos, 94, of New Bedford passed away Monday November 4, 2024 after a period of declining health.  She was the wife of the late Raymond F. Lemos.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Peter and Pauline (Loury) Krones, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.  She was a graduate of New Bedford High School.

She was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church.

Sophie was formerly employed as a bookkeeper at the UMass Dartmouth Book Store until her retirement. She had also been a talented seamstress, making clothing for herself and others and performing alterations.

In her leisure time, she enjoyed knitting, sewing, and crocheting.  She made countless scarves and sweaters for people and was dedicated in her mission of knitting vests for veterans.

She is survived by her daughters, Laurie Dickinson and her husband Vincent, and Paula Lemos; her grandchildren, Amanda Nichols and her husband Matthew, and Nicole Gauthier; and her great-grandson, Oliver Nichols.

She was predeceased by her siblings, John Krones, Poppy Morrow, and Arthur Krones who was her twin.

Her funeral service will be held on Friday November 15th at 11 AM at St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Cross Rd., Dartmouth.  Visitation will be at Church on Friday from 10-11 AM prior to the service.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. George Greek Orthodox Church, P.O.
