Steven M. Gordon, age 73, of Acushnet, passed away quietly on March 6, 2026 after a courageous battle with a long-term illness. Born in New Bedford, on June 16, 1952, Steve graduated from Fairhaven High School, then later served in the US Coast Guard and eventually settled in Acushnet where he raised his family.
Steve was a jack of all trades with a carefree can-do attitude. No challenge was too big and it was no surprise he decided one fall day to gut his entire house just in time for winter. He was 0 to 100 and no in between, keeping his wife Jill on her toes for a thrilling 48 years of marital bliss.
A legendary man of integrity, Steve spent many years running his business Gordon Drywall and Plastering, and working for the Steamship Authority later in life. He was also known as an avid antique dealer (AKA hoarder), chicken farmer, pig farmer and bee keeper which he realized was his true calling. He loved his bees no matter how many times they stung him or sent him to the hospital.
Spending time with his family was where he was happiest. He truly embraced the role of Papa. A lifelong fan of any sport his children or grandchildren played, Steve never hesitated to travel hours to watch a game. Although he might arrive a little late with an extra dent in his truck, his family could always count on him.
He loved life and never passed up an opportunity to spend time traveling with his wife and his closest life long friends. Everyone that knew him loved him. He was a man that wore his heart on his sleeve and always loved first. The rest of life, he figured out as it went.
He is survived by his wife, Jill Gordon; his daughter, Stephanie St. Onge and her husband Michael; his son, Scott Gordon and fiance Karen Brightman; his daughter Erin Hobbs and husband Dave; his daughter Brooke Fatula and her husband Marc; and 13 grandchildren: Taylor, Jordan, Cameron, Layla, Jaime, Quinn, Ella, Olivia, Sydney, Kendall, Steven, Elle, and Cooper.
He also leaves behind two sisters Lisa Gordon-Ozaydin and wife Julie and Kathy Smith and her husband Tom; and many other family members that he loved dearly.
He was predeceased by his parents, Henry (Skippy) Gordon and Melba (Costa) Gordon; and his brother Gary Gordon.
His visiting hours will be held on Saturday, March 21st, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Mattapoisett Home for Funerals, 50 County Road, Mattapoisett.
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Fairhaven High School Athletic Program, 128 Washington Street, Fairhaven, MA 02719, Attn: Tara Kohler.
