Steven Vicente, 62, of Dartmouth passed away peacefully at home after a courageous battle with cancer on Friday, January 3, 2025. He is survived by his best friend and life partner of 15 years Kim Cormier Souza.
Born in New Bedford, son of the late Alberto and Elzira (Sousa) Vicente, he lived in New Bedford and Dartmouth all of his life.
Steven spent 34 years as a Police Officer in New Bedford, starting in 1983 as a Patrol Officer and finally retiring at the rank of Captain in 2017. He enjoyed traveling with Kim to California and Florida, and watching football every Sunday with his kids. Steven loved his Saturday morning breakfast at Lolly's with his kids. He was an avid sports fan including the Miami Dolphins, Boston Bruins, and Boston Red Sox.
Survivors include his children, Sasha Vicente, Tyler Vicente, Lucas Vicente, and Joseph Vicente and their mother Leslie (Ribeiro) Vicente all of New Bedford; his siblings, Rui Vicente, Grace Gibbs and her husband Patrick, Peggy Vicente, and Linda Vicente; his step-daughters, Kadi and Kara Souza; his grandson Carson Andrade; and many nieces and nephews.
His Funeral will be held on Thursday, January 9th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by his Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday January 8th from 4-8 PM.
