Susan M. Almeida

Susan M. (Gardella) Almeida, 75, of Fairhaven passed away Thursday, May 28, 2026. Although unexpected, she passed doing something she loved surrounded by her family. She was the wife of Joseph Almeida, Jr.

Born in New Bedford, daughter of the late John and Anne (Gregory) Gardella, she lived in Fairhaven all of her life.

Susan was a communicant of St. Mary's Church in Fairhaven.

She was a graduate of Fairhaven High School, Class of 1969, where she met her high school sweetheart and future husband, Joseph.

Susan loved taking bus trips with her friends, traveling, spending time at the beach and watching the Boston Red Sox.

She is survived by her husband, Joseph; two children, Margo and Jonathan Almeida; her sister, Anne Gardella and her three daughters; and many nieces, nephews, and other extended family.

Her Funeral Mass will be Tuesday, June 9, 2026 at 10 AM at St. Mary's Church, 440 Main St., Fairhaven, with everyone invited to meet directly at Church. Visiting hours and burial are omitted. A celebration of Susan's life will be held Sunday, July 19, 2026 at 11 AM at the Reservation Golf Club, 10 Reservation Rd., Mattapoisett.
