Susan J. (Wood) Giammalvo, 73, of Dartmouth died May 25, 2026 peacefully at Sacred Heart Home.
She was the wife of Paul Giammalvo.
Born and raised in New Bedford, daughter of the later Edward B. and Marion (Smithson) Wood, she lived in Dartmouth most of her life.
She was formerly employed as a speech/language pathologist at Pulaski School for 25 years until her retirement.Susan enjoyed listening to music. She shared her love of musical theater with her children and enjoyed many trips to New York City with her sisters. Susan loved to travel, often visiting New Hampshire and Maine with Paul. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family and friends. She loved attending her grandchildren's activities and celebrating every milestone.
Survivors include her husband Paul; a son, Michael Giammalvo and his wife Bethany of Fairhaven; 2 daughters, Beth Freitas and her husband Walter of Dartmouth and Lynne LaCroix and her husband Justin of Acushnet; 2 sisters, Sharon Dean and her husband Jack of Mattapoisett and Sally Avery and her husband Fred of Dartmouth; a brother-in-law, Bruce Taylor and his wife Joan of Acushnet; 4 grandchildren, Emily, Samantha, Ethan and Charlotte; and several nieces and nephews.
She was the sister of the late Stacey Taylor.
Her visiting hours will be held on Thursday, May 28th from 3-7 PM with a prayer service at 5 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Alzheimer's Association at 320 Nevada St. Suite 201 Newton, MA 02460 www.alz.org.
