Sylvester A. "Pat" Pereira, 90, of Auburndale, Florida passed away Friday May 17, 2019 at home. He was the husband of the late Mary (Powers) Pereira.

Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Jose and Maria (Mendes) Pereira, he lived in Hopedale for many years before moving to Florida.

Mr. Pereira was formerly employed as a supervisor for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Department of Mental Retardation until his retirement.

He served in the U.S. Air Force.

He is survived by his son, James Pereira; his daughter-in-law, Theresa M. Pereira; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

He was the father of the late Joseph and Robert Pereira, and brother of the late Antonio A. Pereira and Marie A. Vieira.
