Theotonio "Tito" Sanchez

Theotonio "Teta" "Tito" Sanchez, 74, of New Bedford passed away Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness. He was the husband of Andrea (Bretton) Sanchez.

Born in Acushnet, son of the late Mary (Sanchez) Sylvia, he lived in New Bedford for most of his life.

He was a graduate of New Bedford Vocational School and later honorably served in the United States Coast Guard Reserve.

Tito was formerly employed as a lineman for Verizon from 1971 until his retirement in 2003. In retirement, he was employed by Harvey Windows from 2003-2013 and then Walmart in Dartmouth from 2013-2025.

He was a member of the United Social Club of New Bedford where he enjoyed playing pool and spending time with friends.

Tito enjoyed motorcycles and loved time spent with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea; 3 children, Timothy "TJ" Harkins and his wife Rachel, Erin Alvarado and her husband Tomas, and Ryan Sanchez; 10 grandchildren, Gabriella Harkins, Tristan Harkins, Gabriel Peixoto and his fiancé Jade Torres, Giovanna Peixoto, Deeana Alvarado, Elijah Alvarado, Joseph Alvarado, Daivyan Alvarado, Julian Sanchez, and Mileena Sanchez; 3 siblings, John Sanchez, Rosa Sanchez, and Donna Silva; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 31, 2026 at 11am in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours will be Tuesday from 9-11am, prior to the service. For directions and guestbook, visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
