Therese (Benoit) Santos, 98, of New Bedford passed away Thursday September 5, 2024 after a long illness.  She was the wife of the late John Santos. They had been married for 68 years at the time of his death in 2016.

Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late J. Arthur and Marie A. (Poisson) Benoit, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.

She was a communicant of the former St. Joseph-St. Therese Church.

Therese was formerly employed as a stitcher for Kay Windsor Manufacturing until her retirement.

She was a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union, the Royal Travelers, and the Teamsters Retiree Club. She enjoyed playing Bingo and going to Foxwoods.

She is survived by her sons, Leonard G. Santos and Paul W. Santos; and nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late Girard Benoit, Lionel Benoit, Lucien Benoit, Beatrice Lemaire, Laurette Vivian Banville, and Lucille Tetrault.

Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday Sept. 11th at 10 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at St. Anthony of Padua Church at 11 AM.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Visiting hours will be on Tuesday Sept. 10th from 4-8 PM.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to Samaritan's Purse,P.O.
