Thomas S. Laughlin

Thomas S. “Bud” Laughlin, 61, of Acushnet passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 19, 2026. 

The youngest of eight children, Tom was predeceased by his parents, Mary and Joe Laughlin, formerly of Lady Lake, Florida, as well as his sister, Joan, and her husband, Carl Andrade. 

Tom is survived by his wife, Kim; his daughters, Morgan and Madison; and his siblings, Mark Laughlin, whose late husband was John Kane, Dan Laughlin, Tim Laughlin and his wife, Mary K., Joe Laughlin Jr., Jane Matheson and her husband, Erik Matheson, and Jean Laughlin. He is also survived by his nephews, Timmy, Erik, and Willem, and his nieces, Katie, Jenna, and Emma, who affectionately knew him as “Uncle Bud.” He was a great uncle to Niko, Emmett, Bridgette, and Viviana and is also survived by many loving cousins. 

Above all, Tom was a devoted husband and father who fiercely loved his family and friends. He was always there for anyone who needed him. Two of his favorite questions were, “What can I get for you?” and “What can I do for you?” 

A Bishop Stang graduate from the Class of ’83, Tom enjoyed all sports and was an intensely devoted Minnesota Vikings fan, loved riding his Onewheel, and had a passion for crafting fantastic gelato flavors. 

Throughout his career, he worked at SEMASS and Tiverton Power and was a licensed plumber and boiler operator. 

Hard working and all giving, Tom still found time to obsess about his vegetable garden, learning, redirecting and improving in the twenty years of toil - fittingly, the showpiece of the annual crop were his giant heart shaped tomatoes
