In Loving Memory of Thomas Charles Macedo

Thomas Charles Macedo, a beloved son, brother, and Military Veteran passed away on May 03, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of compassion, service, and unwavering love.

From a young age, Tom embraced acceptance and inclusivity. He welcomed people of all walks of life with open arms, treating everyone with kindness and respect. His nonjudgmental nature created a safe space for others to be themselves. He possessed an unwavering belief in the inherent goodness of people and believed in their ability to overcome challenges.


Born in 1978, Tom's vibrant spirit and adventurous nature were evident to all who knew him. Whether he was riding his BMX bike or showing off his skills on a skateboard, he exuded a sense of fearlessness and determination. He had a radiant smile that lit up a room and his humor brought laughter to those around him. He found joy in the smallest moments and had a great ability to appreciate life's simple pleasures.


Tom was a 1997 Graduate from Old Colony Regional HS receiving his diploma in Electronics. In 1998 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving his Country with honor and distinction for four years. His commitment to duty and his unwavering loyalty earned him accolades, including the Good Conduct Medal, Kosovo Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Sea Service Ribbon, and the RMM. Tom's selflessness and dedication to protecting his fellow citizens were evident in his military service.


Upon completing his Active-duty service, Tom was released from the Marines with an honorable character, reflecting his integrity and commitment to his responsibilities. Despite the challenges he faced, Tom remained resilient in the face of adversity. He struggled with PTSD and mental illness, demonstrating immense courage as he sought to overcome his own battles while continuing to extend a helping hand to those around him.


Tom possessed a heart that overflowed with love and kindness. He had a remarkable ability to see the good in everyone he encountered. He  was filled with love and kindness. He wasn't afraid to express it, evident in the simple words "I love you" which Tom was known to express about 15 times in a day.


Tom's compassionate spirit extended to all living things. His heart ached at the sight of any person or animal hurt or struggling. His acts of kindness were a source of comfort and inspiration for those fortunate to know him. He possessed a humble nature and never sought recognition or reciprocity. He did what was right simply because it was the right thing to do.


Thomas Charles Macedo will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. His legacy of service, compassion and love will continue to inspire us and remind us of the importance of kindness and understanding. As we bid farewell to a remarkable individual, let us carry on his spirit of acceptance and kindness. May he rest in Eternal Peace.


He is survived by his parents, Jack and Susan Macedo of West Wareham, a sister Jocelyn Macedo and her wife Ange of Sydney Australia, his aunt Laurie Fernandes and her husband Robert of Acushnet, and several cousins and many friends.
