Thomas Monteiro, 89, of New Bedford died Wednesday November 23, 2016 at St. Luke's Hospital. He was the husband of Maria J. "Nidia" (Souto-Amado) Monteiro.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Manuel and Maria (Mendes) Monteiro, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Monteiro was formerly employed by Fontaine Plumbing and later Billington Plumbing until his retirement.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Antoinette Monteiro of Las Vegas and Diane Monteiro of New Bedford; a sister, Lena Lopes of Beaumont, TX; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday at 7:30 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Visiting hours will be on Monday from 4-7:30 PM. Please omit flowers.
