Tillie Faye Soares, 90, of New Bedford passed away Friday October 29, 2021 peacefully at home. She was the wife of the late Frank P. "Russo" Soares.

Born in Comfort, Texas, the daughter of the late Walter and Nellie (Washington) Stokes, she lived in New Bedford for most of her life.

Tillie loved dancing and playing cards, and enjoyed wearing her high heel shoes. She worked as a hair stylist for her son at Garland Hair Stylist for many years.

She is survived by her children, Garland "Chico" Blanks, Rachel Gonsalves and her husband Manuel, and Joy Pereira; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She also leaves her brother-in-law, Albert Pereira and his wife Marion, family friend, John Caruso, and nieces and nephews.
