Urbano "Herbie" Pereira, 74, of New Bedford died October 10, 2002 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.

He was the husband of Winifred (Barboza) Pereira, with whom he shared 39 years of marriageand son of the late Joseph and Clotilde (Roderigues) Pereira.

Mr. Pereira was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for all of his life.

He was a communicant of Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church.

Mr. Pereira was formerly employed as a machine operator at Lambeth Rope Works until his retirement. He had previously worked as a used car manager at United Motors.

For the past nine year, he had been a participant of Project Independence.

Survivors include his wife; a brother, Alfred Pereira and his wife Dolores, of Fairhaven; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, Tuesday, October 15th at 9 AM.Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend.

Visiting hours Monday, October 14th from 5-8 PM.

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery.
