Victor J. "Uncle Cookie" Bariteau, 65, of New Bedford died February 2, 2012 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was the husband of Nancy (Rodrigues) Bariteau.
Born in Acushnet, the son of the late Panteleon J. and Elsie F. (Fialho) Bariteau, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Bariteau was formerly employed as a taxi cab driver for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was particularly close to his nieces Adriana and Angela and his great-niece Brianna.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Victor J. Bariteau, Jr. and his wife Tina of Fairhaven; 3 daughters, Tammy Bariteau and her companion John Acevedo, Rebecca Bariteau and Margarita Geligo, all of New Bedford; a brother, Brad Bariteau of Fairhaven; a sister, Anita Jefferies of Fall River; 5 grandchildren, Catherine Bariteau, Gwen Bariteau, Isaac Camire, Addison Tweedy and Hailey Tweedy; and several nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.
His Funeral Service will be held on Monday, February 6th at 11 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in the Massachusetts National Cemetery.
