Vivian B. (Berube) Coleman, 100, of New Bedford died May 28, 2024 at Sippican Healthcare Center.

She was the wife of George P.K. Coleman.

Born in Fairhaven, the daughter of the late Antonio and Beatrice (Fouquet) Berube, she lived in New Bedford and Fairhaven most of her life and in Florida for 7 years.

She was a communicant of St. Mary's Church, Fairhaven.

Mrs. Coleman was formerly employed as a teacher's assistant at Wood Elementary School in Fairhaven.

Mrs. Coleman was happiest when spending time with her family and was very proud of them.  She also enjoyed the social events with her friends at Whaler's Place and was a hard to beat scrabble opponent well into old age.  She was a sewing instructor for Singer Co., a Girl Scout leader for many years and a Scrabble Director in Acushnet. She enjoyed gardening and was a member of the National Scrabble Club.

Survivors include her son, Robert Firth and his wife Anne of Marstons Mills, MA; her daughter, Dianne Coleman of Mansfield, MA; 3 grandchildren, Crystal Brier and her husband Chip, Dorian Firth and Jesse Firth and his wife Jessica; 7 great-grandchildren, Austin Breir, Finn Brier, Breanna Oliver, Jacob Firth, Trenton Firth, Nya Firth and Layna Firth; a great-great-grandson, Brady Oliver and many nieces and nephews.

She was the mother of the late Jeanne Maguire the sister of the late Rene Berube and Roland Berube, Marcel Berube, Jeanne Furtado and Claire Schaub.

Her Funeral will be held on Wednesday, June 5th at 9 AM from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, followed by her Funeral Mass at Holy Name of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Church at 10 AM. Burial will follow in Riverside Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, June 4th from 5-7 PM.
