Walter Stawasz, 90, of New Bedford died September 13, 2009 unexpectedly at St. Luke's Hospital.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late Peter and Karolina (Hilbroner) Stawasz, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Stawasz was formerly employed by the Wamsutta Apartments for many years.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Stawasz enjoyed the company of his cat Blacky.
Survivors include 3 brothers, William Stawasz of Acushnet, John Stawasz of Torrance, CA and Stanley Stawasz of Dartmouth; several nieces and nephews including Susan Diogo of Westport and her daughter Wendy Morris of New Bedford.
He was the brother of the late Edward Stawasz, Wanda Babola and Joseph Stawasz.
His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, September 18th at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday, September 17th from 6-8 PM.
