Warren L. "Lee" Ide

Warren Leroy "Lee" Ide, 83, of New Bedford passed away on December 29, 2025, leaving behind him a legacy of service, friendship, and love. He is survived by his life partner, Louise Bishop; his stepdaughter, Be Perron and her husband, Rick; his grandchildren Ely, Henry, and River Perron; and his nephew, John Greeley, Jr. Lee was predeceased by his sister, Mary-Louise (Ide) Greeley.

A New Bedford firefighter since 1976, Lee served as the City of New Bedford Fire Chief from 1997 until his retirement in 2004. He dedicated his career to protecting others. Outside of his public service, he was an avid golfer and spent many afternoons on the green. Lee loved to travel, and spent his free time finding new places to explore. He also wisely escaped the cold of New England to winter in Venice, Florida instead. Everywhere he traveled, Lee extended his circle of friends. His warmth, humor, and integrity touched everyone who knew him, and his memory will live on in the hearts of those he loved and served.

Lee’s loved ones welcome those interested in gathering to share memories and stories at the Allendale Country Club, 1047 Allen St., Dartmouth on Monday, April 20th from 2 pm to 6 pm. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Massachusetts Firefighters Benevolent Fund. Arrangements are by the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
