William "Billy" Gonsalves, 77, of New Bedford died April 15, 2008 at home after a long illness.
He was the husband of Hertha (Jäger) Gonsalves.
Born in New Bedford, the son of the late John and Isadora (Lopes) Gonsalves, he lived in New Bedford all of his life.
Mr. Gonsalves was a retired veteran (1st class E8) after twenty four years in the U.S. Army. He served two tours in both Korea and VietNam. He was a graduate of UMass Dartmouth.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Mike and his wife Pauline; 2 daughters, Tanya Weber, and her husband Neil, and Tina Gonsalves; 2 sisters, Anna Hickerson and Marie Reine; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was the brother of the late George Gonsalves.

His Funeral Service will be held on Friday, April 18th at 9 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. Burial will follow in Rural Cemetery. Visiting hours Thursday, April 17th from 4-8 PM.
