Willie C. Powell, 58, of New Bedford died September 17, 2006 at St. Luke's Hospital after a brief illness.
Born in Birmingham, Alabama, the son of the late Hugh and Rosena (Pierce) Powell, he lived in New Bedford most of his life.
Mr. Powell was employed by Multistate Electric Company in Rhode Island.
He was a member of the East Providence Golf Club.
Survivors include his companion, Jewel Silva of New Bedford; a son, Cory Silva of New Bedford; 2 daughters, La'Ryssa Delgardo and LaShonna Semedo, both of Providence; a brother, Jerome Powell of Atlanta; a sister, Barbara Forsythe of Texas; 8 grandchildren.
His visiting hours will be held on Friday, September 22nd from 5-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St. New Bedford. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, 44 Binney St., Boston, MA 02115.
