Winfred R. Hathaway, 80, of New Bedford died Thursday, March 10, 2022 at UMass Memorial Medical Center after a period of declining health.

Born in Marion, son of the late Richard and Alice (Mitchell) Hathaway, he lived in New Bedford for many years.

He served honorably in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Winfred was a handyman and could fix anything. He loved spending time with his wife, who was his world, until her passing.

He was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Lily (Gelinas) Hathaway; and his sister, Mary F. Cruz.

His Funeral Service will be held Saturday, March 19, 2022 at 10 AM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
