Derek B. Souza, 44, of New Bedford passed away Monday February 17, 2020 at St. Luke's Hospital after a battle with cancer.

A lifelong New Bedford resident, Derek was formerly employed as a foreman at the Decas Cranberry Company. He had also worked as a commercial fisherman.

Derek was a very helpful, loving, and caring person. He was very handy, always fixing things. He loved his dogs, Chief and China.

He is survived by his mother, Carol A. (Souza) Costa; his siblings, Anthony Costa and Misty Costa; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.

His Memorial visitation will be held on Sunday February 23, 2020 from 2-4 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford, with a Memorial Service to follow at 4 PM. For directions and guestbook, please visit www.saundersdwyer.com.
